We live in a time of flooding by means of comfort and consumption. The average person can not contain anymore, and we can only float in the ocean without knowing the implications of such long-term buoyancy.
Many of us feel the need to calm down, slow down, gain some time off and think. The longing for quiet, Freud argues, is the yearning for nothing, for death. This is the need for balance, which is a basic mental need. Most of us need mediation to bridge these gaps. But what is that quiet?

It is a call for a slowdown, not by resistance, but by using technology more sensitively to the needs of humankind. A slowdown that may have to include a stop to create a completely new kind of mechanism based on human recognition that technology is not the end but the tool.
